Outreach Training Project

Nafsi has successfully been holding training sessions for children since 2009 done by the senior acrobats in the organization. The senior acrobats secured performance shows in Europe  during the summer and thus when they returned home they had time to train preparing for the next shows and as a result started training the children from the local community who came to watch them. Gradually, the number of children grew exponentially forcing the acrobats to sort for starting several training centers to limit the children from traveling long distances to get the training in acrobatics. The Outreach project now runs sessions in five (5) centers; Kariobangi South, St. Christine Kibera, Babadogo, Dagoretti and Kivuli center in Kabiria.

The sessions run once every week for two hours under the supervision of our professional trained team. This project is supported by Friends of Nafsi Rome (Italy) and they continue to make ways open up for young children and the youth in Nairobi.

Our team of volunteers undergo regular training in order to get the best results through the safest methods. Through the years the learners who began the program have become been trained as trainers and some of them are now trainers after they finished school. The project has made some very important contribution to the communities in:

  • Building the self-esteem of the participants.

  • Diversion from difficult life situations at home by engaging in active physical exercise

  • Recently the introduction of dance activities have increased the participation of girls to a 50/50 gender balance in nearly all the centers encouraging equal opportunities for both genders.

  • School fees has been availed for the children with outstanding excellence and need accessed by the trainers from their respective centers.

  • Traveling opportunities both locally and to Europe.

  • Excellence in acrobatics, gymnastics and dance further increasing opportunities in their future lives.
