ABOUT US
Nafsi Africa, registered as (Nafsi Pamoja Organization) is a Community Based Organization based in Nairobi, Kenya, brings together modern artists from the city’s informal settlements. ‘Nafsi’ is Swahili word for ‘soul’ and it reflects the heart of our mission—to inspire, uplift, and empower young people through creativity and community.
Through music, acrobatics, circus acts, dance, yoga, percussion, theatre, crafts and visual arts, Nafsi creates safe spaces where children and youth can express themselves, gain confidence and grow. Every week, we run training sessions across Kariobangi, Babadogo, Kibera, Dagoretti and Kivuli centers, offering consistent support and opportunities for self-discovery. Supporters can sponsor a trainer or center, helping us sustain this transformative journey.
Beyond art, Nafsi integrates media and information technology as pillars of empowerment. Our Tangaza Project equips youth with skills in filmmaking, photography, podcasting and digital storytelling—giving them tools to amplify their voices, advocate for change and access new opportunities in the creative economy.
Globally, the Global Stay Tours (GST) takes young people on a virtual tour from Nairobi’s slums to Denmark and Bolivia, where they share culture and engage in exchange programs. These virtual tours highlight social issues like climate change, corruption and inequality through direct conversations and debates while also giving participants a chance to learn from and inspire peers.
By combining art, media and cultural exchange, Nafsi nurtures creative, resilient and socially conscious young leaders—youth who are not only changing their own lives, but also positively impacting their communities and the world.
