Tangaza on Smartphone Project
The Tangaza Project, a flagship initiative of Nafsi Africa, empowers young people from the slum areas of Nairobi with essential digital media skills. With a special focus on young women who have often been excluded from media and developmental empowerment in Africa, the project offers training in film shooting, video editing, and content production. Since its inception, Tangaza has already reached and empowered 208 young people and aims to impact many more by the end of 2026. By producing creative and impactful content, participants are able to raise awareness, educate and advocate for critical issues such as climate change and gender equality while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A cornerstone of the project is the Naiwave Studios, a creative hub that provides access to a professional media and artistic space. This studio has made it possible for young people to record, edit and showcase their work, giving them a platform to tell their stories and connect with global audiences. Supported by Spor Media and funded by CISU, Tangaza not only nurtures creativity and critical thinking but also builds pathways for digital entrepreneurship, ensuring that youth from disadvantaged communities can influence change and shape a more sustainable and equitable future.
